Ayurvedic (Indian) head massage, based on the Ayurvedic system of healing,
originated in India over a thousand years ago. The concept was
originally developed by women who used different oils according to the
season: (coconut, sesame, almond, olive oil, herbal oils,
buttermilk, mustard oil and henna) and
individual needs to keep their
long hair
strong, lustrous and in beautiful condition. The origin of
shampoo comes from the Hindi word "champi". Being "champi-ed"
meant having your head massaged. It began as the way to keep your
long hair in beautiful condition and has become a part of daily
life.
Ayurvedic Head Massage is one treatment guaranteed to
lift you out of the stresses of daily life and provide you with a real
cure for those aching, tense neck and shoulder muscles. The client sits
fully clothed in a chair while the
therapist uses a range of massage pressures and rhythms to
stimulate the head and neck area, where stress affects major muscle
groups, and may bring immediate relief. Tensions are eased and
fibrous knots and nodules melt away. Each session lasts from
thirty to forty minutes.
Ayurvedic head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients comment that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energized, revitalized and better able to concentrate. It also helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, decrease muscular tension, provides higher levels of alertness and concentration and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products.
