Reiki (pronouced "ray-key") is Japanese for Universal Light Force
Energy. This healing technique, devised by Sensei Mikao Usui, a
Japanese spiritual teacher and healer early last century, involves the
"laying on of hands". Working as a support mechanism,
Reiki enhances the body's ability to re-establish a normal energy flow
of "chi" or life force energy, throughout the body and balance the
"chakras" or major energy centres.
Reiki not only promotes your physical well-being but also has a
positive effect on your emotional and spiritual equilibrium. This
is why, after a treatment, many people feel refreshed, relaxed, cleared
and more content in themselves. It is suitable for healthy and
sick people of all ages. You can use it to replenish your vital
energy, to strength your immune system and to help with healing of
ailments and illnesses.
Reiki is drawn through the channel, not sent. By laying hands on the
individual, the Practitioner draws energy to the areas of the body
that need it. The practice of Reiki asks you
to consider something you cannot see with your eyes. However, the
benefits can be and are quite visible to the eye, tangible to the touch
and felt by the emotions.
